Casey trained in performance studies at the Queensland University of Technology before pursuing design at the Victorian College of the Arts.

Casey has assisted Adam Gardnir on What Next?/Master Peter's Puppet Show (Victorian Opera), Die Winteriesse (Malthouse Theatre), Love Never Dies (Really Useful Group Asia-Pacific), and Spicks and Speck-tacular: The Finale (Token Events). He was also engaged as assistant to Christina Smith on The Turn of the Screw (Victorian Opera).
